Knitkeep is a knitting companion app built for knitters who want a calm, organised place for their projects, patterns, yarn stash, and knitting friends. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

We keep things simple. We only collect what we need to make the app work.

What data we collect

When you use Knitkeep, we collect the following:

Account information — your email address and password when you register
Profile information — your display name and profile photo if you choose to add one
Content you create — your projects, patterns, yarn stash entries, notes, and any photos you upload
Usage data — anonymised analytics data to help us understand how the app is used (only with your consent)

How we use your data

We use your data only to provide the Knitkeep service:

To create and manage your account
To store your projects, patterns, yarn, and other content
To allow you to share your projects with knitting friends on the platform
To improve the app through anonymised analytics (only if you have given consent)

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Where your data is stored

Knitkeep uses Supabase to store your account data, content, and uploaded files. Supabase is a secure, GDPR-compliant platform. Your data is stored on servers within the European Union.

Cookies and analytics

Knitkeep uses Google Analytics to collect anonymised usage data — for example, how many people visit the app and which features are used most. This helps us improve the product.

Analytics cookies are only placed after you have given your consent through the cookie banner. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser data.

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies.

Sharing with other users

Knitkeep allows you to share your projects with other users (your knitting friends on the platform). Only content you explicitly choose to share will be visible to others. Your email address is never visible to other users.

Your rights under GDPR

As a user based in the EEA, you have the following rights:

Right of access — you can request a copy of the data we hold about you
Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your account and all associated data
Right to data portability — you can ask for your data in a portable format
Right to withdraw consent — you can withdraw analytics consent at any time

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@knitkeep.com and we will respond within 30 days.

How to delete your account

You can request to have your account and all associated data permanently deleted at any time. To do so, send an email to hello@knitkeep.com with the subject line "Delete my account" and include the email address associated with your Knitkeep account.

We will process your request and confirm deletion within 30 days. All your data — including your projects, yarn stash, patterns, notes, photos, and account information — will be permanently removed from our systems.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

Children

Knitkeep is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you by email or through a notice in the app. The date at the top of this page will always reflect when the policy was last updated.
